ANGRY Simon Grayson is ready to rip up the City team sheet and start again after the Blackpool fiasco.

Grayson accused his players of “surrendering” in the 5-0 hammering at Bloomfield Road.

The Bantams boss labelled his team’s display as “pathetic and embarrassing” and agreed with the travelling fans who chanted “you’re not fit to wear the shirt”.

Grayson will today look to pick up his squad for Thursday’s televised clash with high fliers Shrewsbury – but has warned big changes could be on the cards.

He said: “They can’t feel sorry for themselves. But I’ll pick a team for Thursday night and no player can have any complaints if they are not involved.

“That goes for the goalkeeper right through to the rest of the players because of the performance, desire and attitude of certain individuals.

“At half-time I could have made 11 changes. I could make 11 changes for Thursday night.

“I can do whatever I want and nobody will have any justification to bang on my door. We’ve got to keep trying to get into them because it’s as if they’ve given up.

“That’s got to hurt any time supporters label you’re not fit to wear the shirt.

“It’s a terrible thing to be thrown at players. But it was totally justified because of the performance.

“There’s no hiding place out there because they didn’t show anything that the supporters wanted.

“There’s got to be a reaction and changes for Thursday.

“We lost to a team who have been struggling with confidence. If we go in with the same attitude and desire against a team pushing for promotion, we could get done by far more goals than we did on Saturday.”

City were 3-0 down within half an hour against a Blackpool side who had won one of their previous 13 home games. Grayson admitted he was furious at half-time.

“It’s the angriest I’ve been for a long, long time,” he added.

“The last thing I had written on the board in the team hotel before the game was that ‘you’ve still got a fantastic opportunity to go and get promoted’.

“I wanted to remind the players what they can still achieve. But I don’t think too many believed and that was reflected in the performance.

“They haven’t got the fight to be competitive. When the first goal went in, it was like ‘right, that’s us done’.

“There was no leadership, no characters and nobody telling everyone to stick together and get the next goal to be right back in it.

“You can talk about systems and players and whatever. But the basic ingredients are running around and having a right old go.

“(Kai) Bruenker and (Tyrell) Robinson came on at half-time and did that. But everyone else seemed to cave in.”

City announced Paul Taylor’s exit over the weekend by mutual consent for “non football” reasons and Grayson hopes he can sort out his problems.

He said: “Paul Taylor will probably frustrate every manager he’s played under but he’s also someone who can make things happen.

“We’ve not got enough of those type of players in the group that can do something out of nothing, like hitting one in the top corner from 25 yards or go past somebody.

“But he’s had a few issues and we felt it best in everyone’s interests for him to get himself sorted.

“People’s welfare is obviously far more important than football and everyone agreed the decision was the right thing.”
