The Bantams host Oldham in the second round on Tuesday after winning their qualifying group.
Chesterfield, who went through as runners-up, could have pipped them for top spot if they had beaten Manchester City's under-21s in 90 minutes on Wednesday. The Spireites eventually won the game on penalties.
Tuesday's clash with Oldham at Valley Parade will kick off at 7.30pm.
