STUART McCall has ruled himself out of the running for the Scotland job.

Gordon Strachan today left the role after nearly five years in charge.

But McCall, who worked on his coaching staff from 2013 until returning to City in June 2016, will not be among those vying to take over.

Asked if he would be interested, the Bantams boss said: “If I’m honest, not at this stage, no.

“I love the day-to-day working with the group we’ve got and I’m loving my time here.

“It’s not something I’ve given a second thought to.”

Strachan (pictured) has called it a day after again missing out on the World Cup play-offs following Sunday’s 2-2 draw in Slovenia.

McCall added: “I know personally that the squad and the staff would have liked him to continue if Gordon had still had the enthusiasm and desire to give it another crack and carry on.

“It is difficult. We are up against it but anyone who comes in wants to be the first manager or coach to get us to a tournament again because it hasn’t happened for so long.

“You’ve got managers out of work like Paul Lambert, David Moyes and Malky McKay, who is already at the SFA.

“There are some big names and well qualified managers available at this time.”
