STUART McCall can recall throwing things at the TV the last time City went to Shrewsbury.

The Bantams drew 1-1 at the New Meadow in April after conceding a late equaliser on an afternoon they bossed.

McCall remembers watching the drama unfold second hand by following it on Sky.

He said: "It was one of the featured games on Gillette Soccer Saturday and they had a stackful of chances.

"They kept going back to the game and saying 'there's another Bradford chance, how is it still 1-0?'

"They had so many shots that wouldn't go in and corners and of course it ended up being 1-1.

"I've won and lost at Shrewsbury as a manager and it's not an easy place to go."

City aim to maintain their perfect start to 2017 with a third win on the bounce tomorrow but the Shrews have improved since former Grimsby boss Paul Hurst took charge three months ago.

McCall said: "Paul has certainly tightened things up and improved things. They've won at Millwall and beaten Bristol Rovers.

"They lost back-to-back away games at Bolton and Rochdale both 2-1 and lost their last home game to Fleetwood 1-0, so we expect another tight game.

"Shrewsbury are a team fighting for their lives like Chesterfield last week and they caused us problems.

"But we go in with a buoyant squad. We've trained well again all week, we're hungry and want to kick on now."

James Hanson returns to McCall's plans after being rested with a slight knock. Winger Alex Gilliead also comes straight into contention after completing his loan move from Newcastle.

McCall said: "Alex is an out-and-out wide man. He can get to the dead-ball line for crosses and cut in and have a shot.

"He gives us good options and certainly strengthens things."

Meanwhile, City's trip to Scunthorpe will be televised live on Sunday, March 26.
