COLIN Doyle deserves to share the plaudits for City giving Bobby Campbell a fitting send-off, according to James Hanson.

The centre forward's header grabbed the headlines in Tuesday's emotional win over Northampton – but Hanson insisted that keeper Doyle played just as big a part with a stunning second-half save.

The Irishman's low block to deny Alex Revell left the Northampton striker scratching his head.

Hanson revealed: "We had a corner and Revell came back to me and said he could not believe Doyley had saved it.

"To be honest, I have not seen Doyley have to make that many saves – but that was a great one.

"Revell got a lot of power on the header from a floated cross and he palmed it away really well.

"Doyley's not had much to do but when he's called upon, more often than not, he makes some great saves."

City are still fourth ahead of Saturday's trip to Swindon as their rivals at the League One summit continue to set a hot pace.

Scunthorpe, Sheffield United and Bolton are all going strong and Hanson admits they are setting a high bar.

The Bantams striker said: "All three of them are winning and not showing signs of slipping up. We have just got to keep winning and pushing them on.

"At the same time, we are hoping that the gap opens up with seventh – but our aim is second or first. We have got to go into every game hoping to win it and it will be no different at Swindon.

"Their style of play is a bit similar to ours, so we will have to dust ourselves down and go again and the gaffer will have to pick the best team to win the game.

"It's a massive game and we have a week or two's break after that in the league. We want to be finishing for that in a good position and hopefully second."

Hanson's goal took him up to 91 for City and only two behind Frank O'Rourke in second on the all-time leading list, although Campbell's 143 still remains a distant target out front.

"I'm catching him slowly but surely. I have scored quite a lot for the club but his record is unbelievable, rightly so because he's a legend," said Hanson.

"The gaffer spoke about it being a tribute for me to score with a header in regards to Bobby. It was obviously fitting and I am delighted.

"The lads obviously knew how much Bobby meant to Bradford and especially the gaffer as he was close friends with him.

"We all wanted to get the job done and it was a great turn-out from the fans as the weather had been quite bad. It shows what a tribute they have paid for Bobby and his family."
