STUART McCall is backing City's strength in depth to get it right against Bristol Rovers – even if he names the wrong team.

McCall is spoilt for choice as he prepares for the first Valley Parade clash in three weeks tomorrow.

The Bantams boss wants to get winning again after three successive draws and has a full squad to pick from.

McCall has seen the fierce fight for places in practice and reckons those left out of the side could still play a crucial role.

He said: "I've been really pleased with the level and quality of training this week. You only have to look at the striking department.

"On Monday, we had two together and they looked sharp. Tuesday was two different again and yesterday we tried another partnership.

"They all know they've got competition – and it's not just the strikers. It's the same in the wide areas, at full back, centre half, so it's going to be a really tough choice.

"It's a good dilemma to have and we might not get the starting XI right. It could be down to a couple of key substitutions."

James Hanson is ready to start again after coming off the bench at Gillingham. Rory McArdle made his comeback in the reserves on Tuesday, while Nathan Clarke and Tony McMahon have trained all week.

McCall said: "For the first time since I've been here, not only are we going to disappoint people not in the side but there'll be a couple disappointed sitting in the stand.

"The hardest part for a manager is leaving people out of the 18 and I've not had that before. That's when it starts becoming tricky."

City will be well aware of the threat posed by prolific Bristol Rovers striker Matty Taylor, who has netted six times since they got promoted.

Taylor was on the radar for several clubs in the summer but the Bantams were not one of them.

McCall said: "I've got to be honest, I didn't know a lot about him when I came in. But obviously I've had a look at his goals.

"Even the other night, he got his penalty and had four or five other shots on target. He's not frightened of missing.

"If anyone thinks this is going to be easy because they are in the lower part of the table, think again.

"But we're at home and we'll focus on our strengths and how we feel we can get on top of the opposition.

"We know we dropped points in the home games against Oldham and Port Vale after the way we performed."
