STUART McCall wants a new striker on the City bus that heads on tour tomorrow.

McCall is eager to beef up a frontline that was one of the lowest scoring in League One last season.

Head of recruitment Greg Abbott has been tasked with identifying a potential hitman – and the Bantams are trying to get one done in time for the training trip to Scotland.

"Before the season starts I want to bring in two strikers to help Hans (James Hanson), Billy (Clarke) and young Reece Webb-Foster," said McCall.

"The pieces are falling into place with the signings so far and hopefully with one more to go by the weekend.

"There will be a couple of loans before the season starts but a lot of clubs' under-21s are away abroad at the moment. A lot are still with their clubs while they wait for their own players to come back from the Euros and whatever.

"We're in the battle with players and are doing our best. We've had good meetings this week with people from clubs and had them down to the training ground.

"We are showing them this club is the right place to send their young ones. When they loan youngsters out, for their clubs it's not about our results but how we look after their players and how we can improve them. You've got to tick a lot of boxes.

"But we're trying to get one in by the weekend and there are a couple we are just waiting on."

Timothee Dieng became McCall's fourth recruit on Wednesday but none of the other trialists who featured against Guiseley are still involved.

But City will consider looking at Polish striker Vincent Rabiega again when they return from Scotland – if he is still available. Goalkeeper Rouven Sattelmaier might also get another call.

Rabiega's chance to shine at Guiseley was cut short by a tight hamstring after half an hour but McCall has liked what he has seen of the 6ft frontman.

The City boss said: "We are in discussions about maybe revisiting it with Vincent. It was just unfortunate for him with the injury because he had shown up well in the week.

"He had ingrained himself really well in the group and he looked decent. He showed a lot of good things and got right into it.

"He's a British-type player; all action. He wouldn't have a problem settling in with the style of football.

"But it's pointless him being round here for ten to 12 days getting treatment with us up in Scotland. Whether he goes back home and has other options, there's not a lot we can do.

"In an ideal world, we'll come back after the trip and have another look at him. But between now and then he might have taken up other offers in Poland or Germany."

Filipe Morais will make his first pre-season outing against Gateshead tomorrow after looking sharp in training.

Injured duo Stephen Darby and Rory McArdle will join the travelling party to continue their treatment north of the border at their St Andrew's base.

McCall said: "I'm happy with what we've got. We'll take a few young lads with us – but that isn't a bad thing because you get to see their character."
