PHIL Parkinson claims City are not fazed by the promotion hype as he urged them to seize their chance.

The fourth-placed Bantams look to extend their four-match winning run at relegation-haunted Shrewsbury tomorrow.

Parkinson has a full squad to pick from for the Greenhous Meadow clash as his side look to rubber-stamp their play-off place – and keep on the trail of the second automatic promotion ticket.

"This is where we want to be – right up there in and amongst it," said the City boss.

"That was the aim at the start of the season and we're there now with five games to go. We've got an opportunity and we have to make the most of it.

"We must be very clear in what we've got to keep doing to maintain the level of consistency we've shown over a long period.

"We're relaxed and we're calm but there's an understanding among everybody that we have to be at our best.

"The concentration levels are good and the discipline without the ball has been excellent but it's got to be maintained.

"If we don't get the result tomorrow, it's got to be because Shrewsbury deserved it. If they get anything, we have to make sure they play above and beyond what they've done all season."

Burton, who are stuttering in second, face Barnsley so something has to give and City hope to be in position to take full advantage of any slip-ups.

But Parkinson insists the only result that matters will be their own and explained: "We haven't really mentioned permutations or other teams at all.

"Last weekend everyone else seemed to lose but Tuesday night Barnsley got a win – we expected that. The top eight teams in the league at this stage are there on merit.

"But we've got to take care of our own job and we're talking about nothing other than that."

Kyel Reid has felt no ill effects from the whack on the ankle that forced him off against Swindon. Tom Thorpe returned to training yesterday after his shoulder problem but it is unlikely Parkinson will make many – if any – changes to a winning team.

But while City try to ignore those around them, Shrewsbury have been plunged into the mire by others pulling off big results. They now sit just one point above the League One drop zone.

Parkinson said: "Fleetwood have picked up, Blackpool got some good results and then dropped back in there, Oldham have had a terrific run.

"Chesterfield had a good win last week to get to 49 points and Swindon on 51 probably need just one more.

"It looks like there is only one place left at the bottom. To me, the other three have gone. That's the one saving grace for all those teams down there.

"It's going to be exciting and I'm just so pleased that we're not involved in it.

"Shrewsbury had a period when they looked to be getting out of it with a few good results. Now they've been sucked back in.

"We know they've got some good players but there has to be a brittleness there. The only reason that will become evident is if we go there and play like we have been doing."

City will have to watch chief threat Sullay Kaikai, the current League One player of the month.

Parkinson revealed the on-loan Crystal Palace winger, the Shrews' top scorer with 11 goals, had been a potential target in the summer.

Shrewsbury centre half Zak Whitbread, back from suspension tomorrow, also spent a week training with the Bantams at the start of the season when he was a free agent.

Whitbread said: "I think something would have happened there but Paul Anderson broke his leg and they had to bring in another winger (Reid) and it took the budget."

City expect another large and vocal backing in Shropshire and Parkinson believes the travelling army can play their part.

"We've been to Shrewsbury a couple of times and the ground can be quite sparsely populated around the three stands," he said.

"If we can get that stand behind the goal as full as possible, it will give us a great advantage on the day.

"It's been an expensive season for our supporters but this is a big day for the lads where we really need them."
