PHIL Parkinson has reminded his City squad that everyone has a role in their push towards League One's front-runners.

His side have moved within striking distance of the top six after picking up 24 points from 11 games since the end of September.

It is the best form in the division over that period and the Bantams sit only goal difference outside the play-offs at Christmas.

City's revival of fortunes has been built on a fairly settled side – five have been ever-present in the run – with Parkinson happy to make minimal changes to his starting line-up.

But he also feels those not involved can have a vital impact on dressing-room harmony.

Parkinson said: "It is tough sometimes because we are leaving out experienced players. There are some very good players not in the team.

"Sometimes it's as pleasing for me as the actual performance to see the likes of James Meredith and Billy Knott on Saturday and the way they were in the dressing room, getting the lads going. That means a lot.

"We've got senior players who are chomping at the bit to get out there. But when you're not involved you've got to play your part to give the team the best chance of winning.

"That's what those lads have done and it's important that we keep fostering that spirit and togetherness in the group.

"Everyone wants to play but I can only pick 11 players. We all know the rules. But the modern-day game is about a squad, not just the team that's been picked.

"I'm so pleased with the mentality that's developing. We keep talking about that but you can see it in the way we play."
