CITY are capable of selling out Valley Parade next season in League One, according to James Mason.

Season-ticket sales have passed the 9,000 mark in the first month of the £149 campaign, which is by far the cheapest offer in the division.

Chief operating officer Mason was invited to address other chairmen and club officials about City's ticketing strategy at the Football League conference in Portugal.

And he believes the potential is there if the team are flying high to replicate the crowd numbers that were witnessed for the FA Cup showdowns with Sunderland and Reading.

Mason said: "Could it be a realistic aim that a League One club can fill out the stadium? We think, why not.

"Fans enjoy the atmosphere when Valley Parade is full and it's bouncing and we know the players love to perform in front of the big crowds."

City's stance has been applauded by other league clubs as Mason spoke at the Algarve summit about how to grow home attendances.

"It's nice to be recognised for what we are trying to do with our pricing structure," he said.

"We've also had plenty of football fans from around the league saying that they wish their club would do the same.

"What we are doing is listening to the market and realising that a lot of people are being priced out of football, certainly in the Premier League and the top end of the Championship.

"All we can comment on is our ground and trying to get it as near as full every week so we can enjoy the spin-offs from that.

"Our on-the-day prices will remain in line with others and we appreciate £25 is a lot. But with a season ticket, you effectively pay for six games and get 17 free."

City have set a minimum 15,000 target for sales. Last season's highest crowd was 16,032 against Preston on Easter Monday.

The club have leaned heavily on social media to push their deal, which runs until July 5. The campaign has got celebrity backing on board from the likes of magician Dynamo, Paul Gascoigne and new boxing world champion James DeGale.

Mason said: "Gazza knows this club well from being at Rangers with Stuart McCall. He has a lot of affection for the people of Bradford and the way they get behind the team.

"But everyone we mention this to cannot believe how cheap the prices are."

Only nine League One clubs offer season-tickets for less than £300. Fleetwood, the cheapest last season, are the closest to City on £209.50 for certain areas of their ground.
