BILLY Clarke believes attitude is key for City to see off the threat of an FA Cup upset against Dartford.

Phil Parkinson's men face their second non-League opposition in successive rounds on Sunday when the Conference strugglers head north.

City had their work cut out before edging past Halifax at The Shay first time around, when Clarke came off the bench to transform their fortunes with a hand in both goals.

The Bantams striker now expects a similarly uncompromising battle at Valley Parade this weekend.

While he is confident of further progress, the Irishman knows the mentality in the dressing room must be right.

"If our attitude is spot on, then our quality will show through – but the attitude has to be absolutely right," said Clarke.

"There are upsets in every round and it only needs three or four players to switch off and have a stinker.

"If anyone starts thinking it will be easy, then that's when you have problems."

Clarke has never previously come unstuck against non-League opposition. Before the Halifax win, he played for Crawley when they saw off Met Police and Chelmsford.

"It was a bit weird playing the Met Police, although it's been about 40 years since they were all policemen," he said.

"I think there were two of them but the right back also worked in the admin office for Crawley, so that was strange.

"That was like the Halifax game at the end, with the ball just bouncing around our box in the 90th minute as we held on.

"Then we played Chelmsford and it was fairly comfortable because that was at home. But your attitude has to be right."

City will start red-hot favourites against the part-time Darts as they chase a place in the third-round draw – and the prospect of a money-spinning tie with one of the Premier League big guns.

Having been given a draw they expect to win, Clarke insists the opportunity cannot be wasted.

He said: "We could have had a team around us in the league or have to go somewhere we didn't want. Getting a non-League side at home is probably the best we could have hoped for.

"We know what to expect from them. Like Halifax, they will play with a lot of heart and try to throw everything at us.

"You shouldn't really say but if we play to 90-95 per cent, then we'll win it. But we've got to approach it in the proper way.

"Their best chance is us having an off-day and them putting in their best performance.

"But it does happen and you still need to respect them and play as hard as if you were playing against a Bristol City."
