FOUNDER Mark Neale has stepped down as chairman of Friends of Bradford City to end 30 years of active involvement with the club.
Neale, who will continue to go to games, has twice been chairman of the official supporters club and played a major part in the formation of the Supporters Trust prior to the financial problems which hit City at the start of the century.
He also set up the Heaton branch of the supporters club, based at the Fountain Inn.
A well-known face around Valley Parade, Neal has followed City since September 1965. He met his wife Julie through the club and his family have four generations of supporters.
He said: “I have enjoyed lots of the involvement over the years but just felt it was the right time (to step down).
“We will still be going to games but I will also be devoting more time to my other passion and taking up a role with the Worth Valley Railway.”
Julie Stainthorpe will take over the helm of the Friends fund-raising group as well as taking up a seat on the Supporters Board.
