West Bowling players Dan Connell and Luke Robinson are in the BARLA Great Britain Emerging Lions under-17 squad to tour Germany later this month.

The seven-day starts on Thursday, June 27 when the party fly from Manchester Airport to Stuttgart.

This is the first time a BARLA representative side have visited Germany, which is apt apt as the organisation is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

There will be two Test matches against Germany Under-20s at Heidelberg - on Sunday, June 30 and Wednesday, July 3 before the party fly home the following day.

The squad, which is made up of players from Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire who competed in last year’s Under-17 BARLA County Tri Series, is coached by Kevin Jonson, whose Lancashire side retained the trophy.

The side will be captained Joe Prior of Wigan St Patricks, who captained Lancashire’s conquering side last year.

Stuart Prior, BARLA Great Britain Emerging Lions' manager, said; "I would like to congratulate the players who have made the squad and will be representing their country.

"The coaches had to make a lot of hard decisions in selection given the talent available that performed for their counties last year.

“I would also like to thank our sponsors which will assist in making this tour a successful one for whole squad both onfield and the offield with the activities we have arranged for them.

"We hope to continue our two-year unbeaten run on under-17 tours.”
