The West Riding Girls League will be hosting a representative trials day on Saturday, December 4.

The selected players will represent the West Riding in the Four Counties League.

The age groups for this season are under-ten, 12, 14 and 16 and the managers for each of age group are as follows.

Trials will take place at Batley Business and Enterprise College, Batley Field Hill, Batley WF170BJ.

The venue is grass so please bring suitable boots and shinpads.

All players wishing to be considered for the teams should make contact with their respective managers beforehand to assess numbers attending.

Focus on Shipley Juniors Girls...

The girls section at Shipley Juniors has been running foreight years, with the current crop of under-16 girls having started as under-tens.

Over the years some 60 girls have played for the various teams, which have progressed from seven-a-side through to 11-a-side playing in Division One of the West Riding Girls League.

During this time the club have collaborated with Bingley Juniors, with some of their girls joining Shipley’s current under-16 team and some of Shipley’s girls now playing for Bingley’s under-14s.

The current squad comprises 17 girls aged between 14 and 16 drawn from all areas of Bradford, as well as Guiseley and Otley. The club hopes to see some of these players progress into the senior team, Salts Ladies, in the next two years.

The under-16 team currently train on Tuesday nights at Titus Salts School from 8pm and welcome all year ten and 11 girls.

The under-11s, depleted by illnesses, went down 5-0 to Hemsworth Miners. The under-14s hosted Greetland Goldstars but went down 5-4 after extra-time.

Bingley dominated the second half of but the Greetland goalkeeper was having the game of her life and saved everything that Bingley could throw at her.

This weekend is a local derby against Wilsden, kick-off 11.30am at Crossflatts primary school.
