Silsden Juniors Under-13s A won 3-1 against Grassington in their Craven, Aire & Wharfe League fixture but it could have been so many more.

They got off to a flier when Danny King fired in an unstoppable sixth-minute drive but then hit the crossbar three times before the interval.

Josh Brown’s quality 35-yard free-kick did finally double their advantage on the half-hour and Harry Marshall made it 3-0 just before half-time when he came up with a rare header from King’s corner.

Grassington upped the ante in the second period and were duly rewarded when a low shot beat Jack Baker and went in off the post 15 minutes from time.

Silsden had a few chances to extend their lead, with Josh Metcalfe and Budge both having efforts cleared off the line, but it remained 3-1, King taking the man-of-the-match award.

Idle had no substitutes for their game with Barnoldswick due to half-term holidays but it mattered little as they cruised to a 4-1 victory. Patrick Cooper (2), Josh Whiteley and Ben Dearnley did the damage.

The excellent Parkwood Stadium pitch was sadly not matched by the performance of the referee as hosts Keighley Shamrocks defeated Bradford Tigers 5-4 in a top-of-the-table Under-12 Division B clash.

Tigers, for whom Jordan Kitching scored three and skipper Rosie McDonnell one, had three strong claims for penalties turned down and also believed that one of Shammies’ goals was offside.

Visiting keeper Jordan Clements made two excellent reaction saves to keep Tigers in it but their prevailing feeling was that the man in the middle cost the visitors the points.

Bradford Park Avenue maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign with a 7-0 win at Undercliffe.

The first ten minutes of the match were even but Avenue gradually started to press forward more and more, ending with Chris Dungate’s opener from a corner kick.

Daniel Devine and Billy Cowgill added further strikes to make it 3-0 at the break but it needed some good saves from keeper Bradley Hamilton to preserve their clean sheet in the second half.

A great solo run from man-of-the-match Devine led to Avenue increasing their lead before Luke Laban, Wade Banks and Cowgill’s second finished the job.

Avenue have won ten of their 11 games, drawing the other.

Albion Sports started well in their under-11 clash at Farsley Celtic and took an early lead through defender Kristen Gordon, who was first to react to a loose ball in the area.

Sports increased their lead when man of the match Zain Mushtaq scored a stunning overhead kick but they then lost central defender Aaron Day to injury.

Celtic took full advantage, quickly scoring four goals. Mushtaq then produced another brilliant piece of skill to lob the keeper from distance.

With Sumaili Cissa running strongly in midfield, Albion produced four clear-cut chances to get back in the game but somehow failed to convert any of them. With Albion chasing an equaliser, Farsley scored two more goals on the break to run out winners. Meanwhile, Fairbank extended their own undefeated run to seven games in the Keybury League with an 8-1 defeat of Sutton Rebels.

Mohammed Hussain smashed five goals and Yacoob Ahmed notched his first two strikes of the season too. Shabaz Khan hit the final effort in a one-sided affair.

Thackley Under-Eights edged a narrow 4-3 triumph over Gomersal, courtesy of goals from Daniel Frost, Josh Barrett, James Clapham and Lewis Collett.

A Joshua Debenham double was enough for Thackley Under-Nines to sneak a 2-1 success against Nab Wood.

Silsden continued their fine run with a 4-1 home win against an efficient Guiseley.

Ben Clarkson scored a hat-trick after Jack Lister had opened the scoring by poking the ball home in a fierce goalmouth scramble.

Eccleshill United Eagles recorded a 4-1 under-ten victory at Pool, Joe Storey bagging a hat-trick and Aaron Brown completing the tally.

Silsden B won a game of two halves 5-1 at Burley Kites with goals from man of the match Jack Shaw (2), George Marshall, midfield dynamo Cameron Bealey-Kay and defender Matt Connolly.
