SUBSTITUTE Matthew Leaper certainly felt the force as he made a timely intervention for Wyke Wanderers Under-11s A team at Drighlington Jedis in the Huddersfield RDC League.

Matthew has been out injured for six weeks but, with five minutes left, he converted Harris Cunningham’s free-kick to give Wanderers a 2-1 victory which saw them leap-frog their hosts into second place in Division One.

Despite playing downhill in the first half, Wyke looked sluggish on the heavy pitch and trailed 1-0 at half-time.

However, they dug in deep in the second half and were rewarded with a penalty when Hayden Clifford was brought down, Jack Leach thumping home the spot-kick before Leaper’s late winner.

Wibsey were unified in their 2-2 Division Six draw at Pudsey. Jay Cunningham and Callum Bower scored for the visitors but their hard work could not take them to victory.

Connor Chippindale was man of the match for Bradford Park Avenue in their Under-12 Division Two 1-1 draw at home to Batley, while Park Avenue B only started to play after clinical third-placed Gomersal & Cleckheaton C were 4-0 up within 15 minutes in Division 5B.

Brandon Emmott led the fightback with strong running, which earned him a last-minute goal in a 7-3 defeat.

WIbsey Lions Under-13s stayed top of Division Three with a hard-fought 3-2 home win against Kirkheaton after a last-minute winner from Kristian Argyel. Jacob McLoughlin and Argyel got the others.

Brogan Lightfoot and Christopher Robinson both netted hat-tricks as Thackley Tornadoes defeated bottom club Sandy Lane 7-2 in CRAVEN, AIRE & WHARFE LEAGUE Under-11 Division C.

Captain Dex Boyce got the other goal, with Tobias Jackson and Stanley Hill replying.

BD5 defeated Salts Panthers 4-1 to go second but the victors were indebted to goalkeeper Dallas Berry, who made two excellent saves, as well as keeping out a penalty.

Raees Mohammed, dribbling past three players to score his first of the season, netted before the interval and second-half goals followed from Sudais Mak – a spectacular volley – Mohammed and Murad Khan.

Idle Tigers under-sevens won 2-1 at Burley Cosmos but needed goalkeeper Darnell Smith to be in form early doors, Archie Matthews making some vital tackles and clearances, while Joshua Binns did not let the hosts settle.

Curtis North’s powerful strike put the visitors ahead but, despite the Tigers’ work rate, Burley equalised.

However, with Ethan Hall and Charlie Truman making their presence felt in the Burley box and Noah Thompson looking sharp, Idle clinched the points when North scored his second.

Dudley Hill Rangers’ under-tens’ unbeaten away record went up the spout in a 5-2 setback at Silsden in the BRADFORD & DISTRICT KEYBURY LEAGUE.

Kamikaze defending cost Rangers dear and they only had a Cormac O’Brien double to be happy about.

Rangers’ under-nine Blues played in a very rare 0-0 draw at Keighley Shamrocks, despite it being end to end, while Rangers’ under-sevens gave their laziest performance of the season so far but still won 3-1 at Stanningley Albion.

Much-improved Albion scored first when all but the Rangers goalkeeper were caught upfield but Sammy Membe showed great vision when he held up the ball and played a neat pass to Amraj Gill, who rifled home an equaliser from the edge of the box.

Peter Hill, who rested his goalkeeper’s gloves, made it 2-1 before Gill powered through a lunging tackle to score the third and seal victory.

Muhammad Mustafa is closing in on 50 goals for Albion Sports’ under-eights as they bounced back from their defeat against Horsforth with a 9-4 Green Division victory over Leeds Maccabi at a muddy Roundhay Park.

Mustafa scored three to go to 45 goals in 11 matches. Aarian Sarai also bagged a hat-trick, while man of the match Shubham Rana got a brace and Bobby Jo Metcalf one.
