NEWLY-formed Bolton Woods Sabres tasted victory in their first Craven, Aire & Wharfe LEAGUE fixture, notching a 5-2 victory against Horton in Under-13 Division B.

Sabres' goals came from Alex Gibson (2), McKenzie Lister (2) and Lewis Melvin but hard-pressing Horton tested Sabres' keeper Ben Shuttlewood from all angles. However, Lister would have had a hat-trick but for a stunning save by the Horton keeper.

Sabres are still looking for new players, and if anyone is interested they should contact coach Martin Ham on 07502-034322.

Bradford United Vipers defeated Thornton United 9-1 in C Division, Harry Parsons bagging a hat-trick and Stefan Giangregorio getting the man of the match award for his superb defensive display.

Vipers' under-16s had an entertaining 2-2 Division C draw at home to Thackley Lightning, Billy Enoch getting both of the Vipers' goals and host keeper Kieran Darbey pulling off a superb save.

Centre back Nathan Armstrong was man of the match for Vipers, while both Lewis Redmond and Emmanuel Asiedu impressed on their debuts.

In Division 12B, Louis Smith (2), Billy-Lee Firth and Rhys Sanasy's rasping free-kick gave Bradford United Raptors a 4-2 half-time lead over decent opponents Bradford Horton.

Horton reduced the deficit in the second half but Raptors eased any comeback fears in the last minute when Firth's long-range free-kick made it 5-3.

Idle Tigers scored four goals in their first mini league match for under-sevens.

Despite going behind early on, Josh Binns and Noah Thompson tackled well to prevent Guiseley Whites from increasing their lead, and keeper Darnell Smith also made a fine stop.

However, Curtis North then scored for Idle and, although Guiseley netted at regular intervals, further goals for battling Idle came from Charlie Miller, North and Ben Quinn.

Bradford United Eagles made a fine start to their Garforth League Under-14 Division One campaign with a 7-1 victory at Campion.

Eagles took the lead midway through the first half when Tabish Hussain's corner was inadvertantly bundled over the line by a Campion defender, but they had missed chances before and after the goal.

The second half was a different story as Zack Sangster set up Hussain to make it 2-0 and grabbed the third goal himself following a corner.

Jack Holroyd made it 4-0 at the back post and man of the match Hussain got the fifth and set up Lewis Collett for the sixth thanks to some fancy footwork.

Campion replied from a penalty before Kian Hutchinson pass found debutant Iesa Sabir, who grabbed a well-deserved seventh.
