Two Bradford golfers just failed in their attempt to win the HowDidiDo National Matchplay Pairs’ Championship in Portugal.
Richard Cooper, from Cleckheaton, a member at Wakefield Golf Club, and Andrew Newby, who plays at East Bierley Golf Club, competed in the event over five of Vilamoura’s Oceanico courses – Old, Laguna, Victoria, Millennium and O’Connor.
They won three of their five rubbers but had to settle for the runners-up spot.
A total of 32 golfers travelled to the finals from as far afield as Inverness and Exeter after fighting their way through qualifying rounds and regional finals during 2011.
