YORKSHIRE, who include Cleckheaton duo Megan Clarke and Olivia Hamilton, as well as a Curtis Cup duo, will be seeking their 12th English Women's County Championship title next week at Waterlooville Golf Club in Hampshire.

The competition starts on Monday and finishes on Friday, and the opponents for the North champions will be Norfolk (East), making their first finals appearance for 42 years, Staffordshire (Midlands North), back after a 15-year absence, Gloucestershire (South West), Surrey (South) and Buckinghamshire (Midlands South).

Surrey will be seeking their 11th title and Staffordshire their fifth, while the other three counties are all targeting their first win.

The players, including white-rose Curtis Cup duo Rochelle Morris and Olivia Winning, the Scottish Open strokeplay champion who helped England’s women become European team champions this summer, will be challenged by fast greens and tight fairways on Waterlooville’s parkland layout.

Each match comprises three foursomes and six singles, with the foursomes starting at 8.30am and the singles at 12.45pm.

* Bingley St Ives duo Anne Flintoff and Catherine French finished 12th with 39 points in the PING Women's Fourball Betterball final at Gainsborough Golf Club in Tuesday.

Willow Valley's Denise Page and Melody Watson were 25th with 36 points, while winners Georgia Mitchison, 16, who has only been playing for 18 months, and Sue Young (Beedles Lake) returned 46 points.
