PAUL Arthurs (Calverley), Mark Cunningham (Keighley) and Oliver Tasker, who was playing on his home course, made stunning debuts for Bradford in their 25-11 Yorkshire Inter-District Union League victory over Teesside at Cleckheaton.

On a day that started dull and wet but finished sunny and dry, Arthurs and Cunningham combined to defeat Michael Hey and Ben Bailey 6&5 in the morning foursomes, Tasker pairing with Jack Laybourne to beat James Harbord and Dean Bates by the same score.

Bradford led 7-5 at halfway but Arthurs won 5&4 over Bates, Cunningham defeated Bailey 3&2 and Tasker finished all-square with Lewis Wharton as the home side took the singles 18-6.

Speaking of Arthurs and Cunningham, Bradford captain Tim Wade said: "It was a superb debut from them both and Oliver, and we look forward to seeing them play many more times in the future.

"Our next match should be tough against Sheffield at Abbeydale on Sunday, August 16, but you never know."
