BRADFORD Park Avenue boss Mark Bower hinted that more new signings are on the way as they confirmed the capture of striker Adam Boyes from Guiseley.

Boyes joined his former Lions team-mate Nicky Clee by signing for Avenue for the coming season.

It is thought that Bower and his assistant Danny Boshell have agreed deals with other targets but nothing can be confirmed until their contracts with other clubs expire.

Bower said: “In the next week or so when the ink is on the paper the new recruits will be announced.

“We’re a lot further on than I thought we would be at this stage, and that’s very good - it’s positive news for the football club.

"We have made a lot of progress but can only make announcements depending on players’ situations at the clubs that they’re leaving.

“What I can say is that we’ve been talking to a few familiar faces. A few players that we’ve worked with in the past and there could be some more news soon.”

Avenue’s squad is taking shape as Bower looks to his first full season in charge.

Centre back Shane Killock became the first to commit his immediate future to the club, and forward Oli Johnson followed before Clee and Boyes came on board.

However, holding midfielder Luke Dean has moved on.

The former Bradford City man made 35 appearances for Avenue last term but was injured towards the end of the season and endured a frustrating spell.

Bower added: “I brought Nicky in when I was at Guiseley at the start of last season and he’s a very good player.

“I think we’re lucky to get him because of his circumstances. He’s got a young family and a very good day job as well so with many of the clubs in the National League being full time, and an increasing number of clubs in our division going the same way, he was looking for another club.

“The travelling in the National League was also a problem for him and he was looking to be based more locally.

"He lives in Huddersfield, so we’re on the doorstep and don’t have to travel to Torquay, Dover or Sutton United for away games.

“It’s difficult for players with decent day jobs who earn money from football as well and we’re in a great position to attract them here.

“Boyesy is a player that we have worked with before and we know the qualities he will bring to the side.

“Not only will he score goals at this level, his all-round game and work rate will make him a firm favourite with our supporters.

"When we were planning for the coming season and given our shortage of goals last season, Adam was a priority target, so once we were aware he would not be staying at Guiseley we worked hard to secure his services.

“He had plenty of other options, and some were more financially attractive, but he was impressed with the squad we are putting together and the ambition we have to take the club forward.”

“We would have been happy to keep Luke but he had an injury at the end of the season so we asked him to come back after the break and show us his fitness but he had an offer to go elsewhere.

“He decided to take it and he goes with our best wishes and big thanks for his efforts at Bradford - he’s a good player and did well for the club.”
