BRADFORD PARK Avenue look to get their National North survival bid back on track tomorrow when they head to fellow strugglers Alfreton Town.

Mark Bower's men are still six points above the drop zone despite Wednesday’s narrow loss at promotion-chasing Darlington 1883.

And a victory by two or more goals would see them overhaul their hosts, who have a game in hand on Avenue.

Alfreton, for so long under the stewardship of former Bantams boss Nicky Law, have won their last three home games but

were beaten 4-0 at Gloucester City last Saturday and have the worse defensive record in the division.

Law departed to take up a role as a talent spotter for Premier Division outfit Burnley and was succeeded by Russ O’Neill in the hot-seat.

The Town boss will have targeted this game and their next home clash with second-bottom Stalybridge Celtic before tougher matches at play-off contenders FC Halifax Town and Darlington.

Bower was left frustrated by his side’s 1-0 loss at the Quakers after the home side netted in the last ten minutes. But he was pleased that Jake Hibbs' loan deal from the Shaymen had been extended the same day.

He said: "We’ve got a good squad at the moment and we’ll need each and every one of the players in it with the games coming up.

"We’ve still got Nicky Boshell out injured and Oli Johnson is 'permanently' injured. It’s just a case of by what percentage his fitness is.

“But Oli is a key player for us and we need to manage him through so that we can get the best out of him before he can fully recover in the close season.”

Johnson was picked out by Hibbs for Avenue's opening goal in last Saturday's 2-1 win over Altrincham but he was on the bench at Darlington.

Bower put former Quakers man Adam Nowakowski in to try and unsettle his old side but Johnson did make a late appearance as a substitute.
