BRADFORD Park Avenue are looking forward to getting back out on the pitch after being frustrated by last weekend’s postponement at Stalybridge Celtic.

It was the first game Avenue have had called off this term and it denied them a chance to keep their momentum going, against one of their National League North relegation rivals.

Tomorrow they welcome a Gloucester City side in the top half of the table to Horsfall Stadium.

The Tigers are in 11th spot and still have promotion ambitions but they head to the Horsfall Stadium on the back of two defeats.

Gloucester lost their last two home games, against Brackley Town and FC United of Manchester, but they have beaten promotion-chasing Salford City and Tamworth this season.

Park Avenue boss Mark Bower said: “It was a bit frustrating last week because when you’re on a good run you want to keep on playing.

"But we’re playing in the sixth tier of English football so we are going to experience postponements over the course of a season.

“It wasn’t all bad as it gave a couple of the lads with niggling injuries, after games the previous Saturday and Monday, a bit more recovery time. They’re not all of ready to come back though.

“Nicky Wroe has a hamstring strain and he might not make it. We’ve been checking on his progress through the week, and Nicky Boshell’s ankle injury has not cleared up as quickly as we hoped.”

Avenue are seeking a fourth win on the trot, a run which lifted them out of the drop zone for the first time since Bower’s appointment.

Despite not playing last weekend they remain two places and three points above the relegation places.

Confidence is high at the club and within the squad but Bower knows that he and his men face a tough test against the Tigers.

He said: “Gloucester are having a good season and their manager Tim Harris is doing a great job, yet again.

“They are not one of the biggest spenders and they play their home games outside their own city but they’re continuing to compete against the top sides in our division.

“That is a testament to the manager, players and staff at the club. But on our day we can match anyone and hopefully we can continue our recent run and get another three points.”

It will be Bower’s 20th league game in charge since taking over from Alex Meechan 11 matches into the season.

Avenue were without a win and had taken just three points from a possible 33.

Bradford have won nine drawn one and lost nine in the 19 games since, one of those defeats being 1-0 at Gloucester’s rented home Whadden Road when Joe Hanks scored the only goal of the game.
