BRADFORD Park Avenue make the short journey to mid-table Stockport County for the first of a double-header against their former Football League rivals.

The clubs meet in Vanarama National League North tomorrow, with Mark Bower’s men keen to continue their momentum, before a week later they clash in the FA Trophy.

Yet Avenue boss Bower insists that his side will be concentrating purely on the first game as they battle for much-needed points (see tomorrow’s T&A).

“We’ll be concentrating on tomorrow’s game and our league position,” he said.

“We’ve just reeled in a few teams above us and need to keep that going because of next week’s FA Trophy, hopefully another weekend set aside for the next round a fortnight later and a midweek County Cup tie.

“That means a few weeks with not much league activity and if you don’t pick points up when you have the opportunity, you can soon slip back down the table.

“We want to make sure that doesn’t happen as we want to keep this run of form going.

“The lads have played really well in the last four or five games. We should have got something at Gloucester, and a few things went against us when we played Stalybridge at home, but we’ve won three of our last four.

“We certainly haven’t achieved anything by reaching our current position – there’s still a lot of work to do – but the situation is looking a lot better.”

Avenue are two places above the bottom but remain in the relegation zone despite back-to-back league victories.

Bower hopes to have the versatile Adam Nowakowski back from injury and may have two new faces.

The Avenue boss said: “There is a possibility of some transfer activity before the game and we may have Adam back.

“But we’ll have to wait to see if there’s any reaction after our last training session.”
