BRADFORD Park Avenue face a quick turnaround in Vanarama National League North, with Curzon Ashton visiting the Horsfall Stadium just a week after they beat Martin Drury’s men.

Nash edged the reverse fixture 2-1 after Bradford had taken the lead midway through the first half through Callum Chippendale.

Avenue have not played since then after their home game against Corby Town on Wednesday was postponed following overnight snow, which left a thick covering of slush on the playing surface.

Curzon did play in midweek but Dave Flanagan’s side went down 3-1 at home to leaders Solihull Moors, which dropped Nash out of the top ten.

Bradford’s unexpected free midweek was a double-edged sword for them as it gave the players carrying knocks more time to recover but left manager Drury and his assistant Jamie Price with no time to arrange or prepare properly for an impromptu training session.

The postponement of the Corby game is yet another inconvenience, and Avenue are now closer to the drop zone. Following other midweek results, they remained in 17th spot but are now just three points above the relegation zone.

AFC Telford United hauled themselves off the foot of the table with a shock 3-2 win at Nicky Law’s mid-table Alfreton Town to move to within three points of Avenue.

Fixture congestion will be a problem for Avenue. They have played 28 games – fewer than anybody else in the league – and still have 14 to play.
