BRADFORD Park Avenue manager Martin Drury has described his team's 5-0 FA Trophy replay defeat at Nantwich "an utter disgrace".

He said: “I’m an honest man, and I’ll hold my hands up when I get things wrong. I’ll accept criticism when it’s due and it is.

"I’ll be speaking with the relevant people to discuss important matters now. I’ve been told by everyone in the dressing room not to do anything too hasty, but I don’t think what happened on Tuesday is acceptable.”

Leading scorer Chib Chilaka was also bluntly honest in his appraisal, saying: “We are all hurting because we let ourselves down and the management team and coaching staff, but, most importantly, our loyal fans.

“We are all deeply sorry. We are all desperate for the next game, no hiding, no self-pity.”

That next game is Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday and if Avenue lose, and other results go against them, they could find themselves joint bottom of Vanarama National League North.

Last Saturday's 3-1 reverse at basement outfit AFC Telford United was their third defeat in a row.

Trinity drew at Telford before last Saturday’s 2-1 win at Corby.

Drury and his charges are talking about ‘getting a reaction’ and ‘kicking on.’ Now, more than ever, they need to walk the walk.
