BRADFORD Park Avenue will be aiming to harness their pent-up energies when they host Nantwich Town in the FA Trophy on Saturday after suffering two postponements in five days.

However, Avenue boss Martin Drury has warned that any action depends on the weather over the next 48 hours.

His players are just as keen as their manager to get back onto the pitch and erase the memory of back-to-back defeats by the odd goal.

Drury said: “We’re all desperate to get back out there because we have got games stacking up and we don't want to be playing catch up in the second half of the season like we were last year.

“But it all depends on the weather. I was up at the ground the other day and the vast majority – 90 per cent – of the pitch is absolutely fine.

"There are two areas that are very soft but they are maybe a yard in from the line at both ends of the pitch – probably the two least used areas in any game of football.

“But the referees have to do their job to do and player safety is one of their major concerns, but it is frustrating.”

Bradford beat Lincoln City in the last round after a 2-1 win at Buxton in the third qualifying round.

The Bucks are Evo-Stik Premier Division rivals of third-placed Nantwich.

Drury said: “We have watched Nantwich play a couple of times this season and they’re a good side.

"Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right because they are one of the sides challenging.

“It’s going to be very tough because the game will mean as much to them as it does to us, and they’ll be motivated.

"We had a hard time against Buxton in one of the earlier rounds, so we know how difficult it’ll be against Nantwich.

"I’m glad for the fans though because they haven’t got to travel over to Nantwich and, if we get it right tomorrow, they won’t have to.”

Keeper Jon Stewart is still to begin his three-game suspension so Conor Mitchell, the young stopper drafted in on a month’s loan from Championship outfit Burnley, will make his Avenue debut.

Club captain Simon Ainge is back in contention after injury as Drury named a full squad, with a slight doubt over midfielder Paul Marshall, who is nursing a sore ankle.
