Bradford & Bingley are confident they are moving in the right direction after lifting themselves off the bottom of National League Two North.

The Bees travel to Westoe in positive mood after the bonus point claimed in their 27-20 defeat to Rugby Lions took them above Waterloo.

Debuts are expected to be handed to Lee Mapals, signed from Keighley Cougars, and Tom Ball, a loan capture from Wharfedale.

Chris Hemsley, the Bees’ director of rugby, said: “Last week there was only one direction to go and now we’ve taken a small step forwards. Hopefully we can continue to move in the right direction.”

Wharfedale did not enjoy their finest hour in last Saturday’s 21-17 defeat at Newbury Blues but their preparations for the game had been seriously hit when their arrival was delayed by heavy traffic.

This week the Greens, fourth in National League One, will be looking to maintain their 100 per cent home record against injury-hit Tynedale, who have lost their last four matches.

Otley, 11th after last week’s 11-10 defeat at Redruth, host a Launceston side that were beaten 22-8 last week by Cambridge, who lost at Cross Green just a fortnight ago.

Matt Burrows has fallen victim to swine flu ahead of Cleckheaton’s game at home to Middlesbrough.

The National Division Three North clash will kick off at 2.15pm after the visitors refused to play at 3pm.

Cleckheaton are also missing Nick Wainwright but Carl Mason and Richard Piper return after suspension.

They will be hoping to continue the improvements shown in last week’s 34-22 defeat at Sheffield Tigers.

But they face a tough task against Middlesbrough, currently sat in third place.

Bradford Salem host York in a battle between third and fourth in Yorkshire Division One.

Despite losing 16-13 in their derby clash at Skipton last week, they will stick with the same squad.

Salem have been strong on home soil this season and face a York team who have been wildly inconsistent.

Meanwhile, Keighley host Heath on Saturday when victory would take them level on points with their opponents in a tight division.

Only two points separate fifth-placed Sheffield and Keighley in tenth.
