Bradford & Bingley have resigned one of their Twickenham heroes.
Steve Brimacombe, who scored a try in their Powergen Intermediate Cup final victory over Gloucester Old Boys five years ago, is back at Wagon Lane after a brief stint with National League Two North rivals Harrogate.
Chris Hemsley, director of rugby at the Bees, explained: “Steve lives in Harrogate and, as he was finding it difficult getting to training, it was easier for him to go round the corner to play.
“But the move hasn’t worked out for him and we are delighted that he is back.
“With Phil Greaves having injured his foot last weekend and being out this weekend, it is likely that Steve will slot straight in at No 10 for us in what is a difficult assignment at second-placed Macclesfield.
“Although we are bottom of the table, the team spirit is still excellent – in fact it is the same throughout the club – which shows that it doesn’t matter how many players leave, it is the ones that remain who are important.
“It is the same in the second team too under Rob Greaves and Sam Cummins but, having said that, each team have only won one match so far, so we are desperate for a victory.”
