SSE North One East

Alnwick 18

Bradford & Bingley 14

BRADFORD & Bingley have now lost five of their six trips this season in SSE North One East, and their other match was a 21-21 draw at Northern.

However, Bees coach Stuart Dixon was not too despondent afterwards, saying: "This was our best performance away from home all season.

"We played some really good stuff and scored two really good tries but we were second best come scrum time, which was how Alnwick got their winning try.

"I was very pleased with the performance but not the result. Adam Wellington played well on the wing and Chris Fisher did likewise in the back row."

Bradford & Bingley were helped out by Otley as the Bees signed up prop Chad Harris on an emergency loan.

Dixon added: "We are really grateful to James Tiffany at Otley for helping us out. Eddie Peglau returned for us but had a recurrence of his ankle injury after 25 minutes, so Chad played for almost an hour.

The home side took a 6-0 lead through two penalties before the Bees went into the lead with a 25th-minute Fisher try that was converted by Shaun Driver.

Alnwick bounced back with a seven-pointer of their own as James Warcup touched down under the posts before Adam Mitchell's try, again converted by Driver, gave the visitors a 14-13 half-time lead.

In a tight second half, the Greensfield side earned the win as they pushed the Bees over at a scrum after winning a penalty. Driver also hit a post with a penalty.
