Bradford & Bingley have won their appeal against the deduction of two National League Two points for fielding an ineligible player.

The Rugby Football Union applied the penalty because they felt that hooker Peter Scott was not registered for the opening league match of the season at home to Manchester on Saturday, September 2.

However, an RFU tribunal meeting in Coventry this week, chaired by Robert Horner and including Geoff Payne and Keith Plain, upheld the Bees' appeal.

"That's the first victory we have had for a while," laughed Brad-ford & Bingley's head coach. "It's not very often you win an appeal at Twickenham."

Wappett explained: "Peter went home to New Zealand for the summer and his dad wanted him to play for his local club.

"Peter had to go through the rigmarole of deregistering with us and registering for his team in New Zealand and then when he came back to England he had to do that process in reverse.

"As far as we were concerned he was on our list but the RFU thought that he wasn't."

The Bees delay selection for the home match against Henley because second row Barry Clark has a bad back but they hope to have fly half Tom Rhodes (flu) and Joe Simpson (work) available again.
