Last season’s regular fly half Tom Barrett makes his first start of the season when Wharfedale travel to Blackheath on Saturday in National League One.

The Greens are hoping to recover from the disappointments of last Saturday’s performance against Birmingham & Solihull.

Simon Horsfall retains his place in the side, but Richard Rhodes comes into the line-up in place of Richard Brown.

Hooker Ben Sowery changes places with Steve Graham, and Alex Rieder returns to bolster the bench.

Blackheath won the corresponding match last season by a single point when a last-minute Wharfedale conversion hit a post.

They have made a faltering start to the season, losing their first three matches to admittedly strong opposition, before getting off the mark last Saturday with a narrow win at Cinderford.

Wharfedale (at Blackheath): A Whaites; D Hart, A Hodgson, J Gill, S Horsfall; T Barrett, P Woodhead; A Mason, B Sow-rey, C Steel, R Rhodes, J Quinn, A Myers, R Baldwin, Dan Solomi. Replacements: M Tampin, S Graham, R Brown, A Rieder, J Gough.

Wharfedale Foresters have selected a strong side for one of the highlights of their season, the floodlit match against Leeds University tomorrow (7:30pm).

In recent seasons this eagerly-anticipated match has been decided by the narrowest of margins in a serious test between two ambitious sides determined to play running rugby.

Luke Gray takes the full-back position in a strong back line which includes returning scrum half Dan Matthews and winger James Druce, who last Saturday scored five tries and seven conversions for a personal tally of 39 points at Driffield.

Foresters: Luke Gray; James Druce, Simon Crabtree, Lloyd Davies, Nick Taylor; Will Bell, Dan Matthews; Neil Dickinson, John Rhodes, Daniel Loughran, Rhys Davies, Rob Burnett, Simon Baker, Chris Howick, Tom Wareing. Replacements: Dan Stockdale, Jim Mason, Tom Whyte, Chris Morgan, Russ Aldersley, Andrew Malley.

Meanwhile on the back pitch, the Wharfedale Development XV takes on the Leeds University Freshers (7.30pm).
