Keighley 28, North Ribblesdale 24

A thoroughly entertaining game saw Keighley edge this local derby.

Within five minutes, the hosts’ lack of concentration was punished by a well-taken try from winger Simon Bolland.

Stung into action, Keighley produced some of their best rugby of the season. With forwards and backs working in unison, Ribb were forced to concede a series of penalties, two of which Alex Brown converted.

The hosts’ first try came when their back line, playing a penalty advantage, crisply moved the ball wide to winger Sam Walker, who scored in the corner and Brown converted.

There was an instant response from the visitors as sloppy Keighley defence gave Dakin the chance to round his man and chip forward for Simon Chapman to score near the posts, Steve Moon converting.

In the second half, Keighley continued where they left off. They starved the opposition of possession as Leigh and Olly Sugden continually drove the ball upfield, well supported by Tom Lowther and Dave Pullen.

After a series of phases, the ball found Brown in space and a he touched down under the posts, which he also converted.

Excellent work from 17-year-old centre Ben Blackwell gave his centre partner Adam Horsfall the chance to break up field, only to knock on over the line. Within a matter of minutes, he made up for his mistake as he scored out wide.

Ribb managed to stay in the game with a penalty from Moon.

Keighley responded with another period of sustained pressure, as Brown added a penalty.

In the final minute, Ribb gained a bonus point with a try for centre Dan Watson, converted by Moon.
