Woodhouse Grove School under-15s saw their unbeaten run this season come to an end as they were defeated 27-15 at Whitgift in the quarter-finals of the Daily Mail Schools Vase.
The Apperley Bridge side had won six games and conceded only 29 points on their way to reaching the last eight in the competition, in which over 1,800 schools entered this year. They were just two wins away from the final at Twickenham but were knocked out by the Croyden-based team, which included two Wasps Academy players.
Woodhouse, who had only conceded eight points in their previous four games, now turn their attention to the league, in which they are fourth.
Meanwhile, Grove’s under-18s bid to go one better when they play Hereford Cathedral School for a place in the Vase semi-finals.
