Keighley head to North Ribblesdale on Saturday with head coach Graeme Sheffield hailing the club’s youth system.

The Rose Cottagers were comfortable 33-8 winners last weekend over a Scarborough side containing several overseas players in stark contrast to the hosts’ home-grown squad.

And Sheffield said the Yorkshire Division One victory highlighted the good work being done by the club to develop its own talent.

He said: “One of the great things at Keighley is the junior system and junior teams.

“Everyone of our players, with the exception of Marco Ferrazzano who we signed this season, are all products of the Colts team.”

Sheffield was not impressed with Scarborough’s approach. “I’ve never played a Scarborough team so negative. The way they played was very disappointing. They walked to every breakdown.

“We should have beaten them by more but some of our finishing left a bit to be desired.”

Saturday’s trip provides a chance for Keighley to put some daylight between themselves and their Settle hosts.

Sheffield’s fourth-placed troops are just two points and two places above the Dalesmen and he knows it won’t be easy.

“North Ribb are one of the surprise packages from Division Two. It’s nice to see them doing well.

“They won their division last year so they have developed a winning ethos. But we go there with nothing to fear.”

Keighley are forced to shuffle their pack, with prop Paul Sinfield and David Pullen unavailable due to work commitments.

George Fletcher comes into the front row to replace Sinfield, Ian Buckley comes in at second row and Stuart Inman moves to the back row. Sam Walker and Tom Lowther have recovered from injury and return to the bench.
