Cleckheaton are in mourning today following the death of their press officer Nigel Earnshaw.
The 58-year-old suffered a heart attack in Bradford Royal Infirmary, having completed a series of operations following a motor-bike accident three weeks ago at Saltaire Roundabout.
Cleckheaton spokesman Alan Bentley said: “Nigel was a committee member for 15 years, having started out as a fourth-team helper with his brother-in-law Mick Smith.
"He painted benches and changing rooms before progressing to become our scribe. He was also an Oddfellows Grandmaster for two years.”
Cleckheaton are without Richard Piper when they host Carlisle in North One East on Saturday.
He was sent off in their 21-6 home victory over Driffield and has been suspended by his club.
Bentley said: “It is unfortunate because Richard has been our best player.”
