Baildon, who are third from bottom in Yorkshire Division Three, are victims of circumstances.

They have been asked to play an important league match at home to fourth-bottom Garforth this weekend with a weakened team on what was originally a non-league Saturday.

However, they should have played the contest last Saturday when Baildon had a much stronger side out, only for Garforth to cry off because they could not raise a front row.

Baildon chairman of rugby Phil Wilson admitted: “We are disappointed. For a Yorkshire Division Three club not to be able to get a front row is poor.

“We have been in the same situation ourselves and have hauled someone out of retirement or whatever but we have found a front row somehow.

“Now we are in a situation where we are without our player-coach Carlos Hassan, our scrum half James Dawson and several other experienced players.

“They have all arranged something only last week when they felt last weekend’s match was not going to be called off for snow or other bad weather, and now they cannot cancel what they have set up.

“But I don’t blame the RFU – there is not much else they can do. We want to play the match but on the original date.”

A total of seven Baildon players are not available on Saturday, including centre Dave Hemming.

Aaron Wilson makes his first XV debut at scrum half in place of Dawson, with Hayden Lister and Chris Smithies (seasonal debut) replacing Hassan and Hemming in the centres.

Andy Pollard returns to bench duties following injury – his son Danny is in the second row – with Sam Robinson returning following swine flu.

Richard Kingham gets a starting place on the wing, with Matt Oddy moving from wide to the back row.
