Baildon 7 Old Modernians 18
DESPITE having 12 players unavailable, Baildon only went down by 11 points to their third-placed visitors.
After the snow had been washed away by rain and a biting wind, Baildon kicked off down the slope and, although superior in open play, their pack was disjointed.
However, Baildon broke the deadlock. Scrum half Robbie Hill secured a ruck and lock Tom Peel caught the visitors unawares.
The hosts recycled the ball and the returning Matt Withers broke a tackle and offloaded to fellow centre Joe Moore, who outpaced the defence to score.
The conversion made it 7-0 but a lack of discipline gave Mods the chance to land two penalties, putting them only 7-6 behind at the break.
Utility forward Andy Magee did well on his return after a long injury absence in the second half but Mods used the slope well to pin the hosts back and profited from a close-in ruck, the conversion putting them 13-7 in front.
Baildon worked their way back uphill but could not make their territory count and Modernians scored again after quick hands gave them a try.
