Baildon 6, Moortown 37
Baildon are showing signs of improvement, despite enduring another tough afternoon in SSE Yorkshire Division Two.
Trailing just 6-0 on 34 minutes, the Jenny Laners went further behind when referee Ashton had no choice but to award a penalty try when their scrum buckled for a third time following several strong Moortown surges near the home side's line.
Another Moortown try just before half-time gave the visitors a rather flattering 20-0 half-time lead.
However, outside centre Jarrod Huss reduced the deficit to 14 points with two well-struck penalties shortly after the break.
Baildon threw everything at the visitors and came close to crossing the Moortown line on several occasions but the visitors' stronger pack, which dominated the set-piece and drove the ball forward, effectively eventually took control of the game and provided their backs with the platform to score three further tries.
This leaves the Jenny Laners pointless after four games and still eagerly awaiting the return of several players for next week's vital trip to fellow strugglers Old Rishworthians.
