Wharfedale's squad, which squandered so many chances last week against Old Albanians, get a chance to redeem themselves when they travel to Cambridge on Saturday to play the SSE National League One's bottom club.

This is the host club’s seventh season in the division, and when their off-pitch management has been engaged, they have been a force to reckon with.

In 2008-09, they finished a clear second to Birmingham & Solihull, and they were a top-four club in the following two seasons.

But they have the unfortunate habit of running out of money without realising it, and have twice had to go “amateur”, losing their coaches and their best players. This season’s inevitable relegation will be the culmination of these mistakes.

But despite being on a winning run of four matches against Cambridge, Wharfedale know that they can take nothing for granted.

Although Cambridge have won only twice in their last 17 matches, one of those was a five-try win at Fylde, and since their try-scoring record is better than Wharfedale’s, the Greens will have to be on their mettle.

After losing three key playmakers to injury during last Saturday’s match, the selectors are relieved to be able to name a squad with only one definite change.

Neil Dickinson’s sheep demand that he remain on the farm, so his place on the bench goes to Joe Altham.

Centre Joe Donkin remains a doubt, so Luke Gray, himself absent for two weeks through injury, could come into the squad as cover.

He played a part of Wharfedale's 40-15 Centurion Yorkshire Cup tie at home to Otley last night, the Foresters coming off second best after dominating the opening half-hour. The derby match was watched by 230 spectators.
