Having tasted Twickenham glory last season in the RFU Junior Vase, Baildon are just two steps away from a return to HQ.

They are at South Lancashire and Cheshire Division Three leaders Manchester Medics on Saturday, and the Jenny Laners’ director of rugby Andy Whitley said: “We set three targets at the beginning of the season – winning promotion from Yorkshire Division Three, retaining the Junior Vase and winning the Yorkshire Silver Trophy.

“Going to Twickenham last season was such a good experience, particularly for our younger players.”

As for Medics, Whitley added: “We had them watched earlier in the season so we know a little bit about them.

“We have also spoken about them to some of the Medics teams that we know.”

Baildon can select 22 players and are likely to have scrum half Joe Miller and fly half Jake Duxbury back in the mix this weekend after a shoulder injury and wrist injury respectively.
