FORWARD Josh Walters has been drafted into Leeds' 19-man squad to travel to Australia for the World Club Challenge against Melbourne Storm next Friday.

Walters had been due to play for the Super League champions' reserves against Hunslet at South Leeds Stadium tonight but instead joined up with Brian McDermott's squad at Manchester Airport for the flight down under.

The 23-year-old, who was a member of the Rhinos' 2015 Grand Final-winning team, received his call-up after Ireland international Anthony Mullally suffered a serious finger injury in last night's 20-11 Super League win over Hull KR at Elland Road.

McDermott said: "He's snapped his finger. The bone has come out and he's having an op."

With Mitch Garbutt (quad), Mikolaj Oledzki (shoulder), Brett Ferres (knee), Keith Galloway (Achilles) and Nathaniel Peteru (bicep) all sidelined through injury, McDermott's pack options are severely reduced.

Back-rower Brett Delaney is also a doubt after going off with concussion during the win over Hull KR but will make the trip.

McDermott said: "We'll take him. The initial report from the doc is that he thinks he should be okay next week as long as he passes all the tests. But we wouldn't allow him to go back on last night."

Also in the squad is stand-off Joel Moon, who had an epidural during the week in an effort to cure a nerve problem in his leg, and full-back Ashton Golding. They both watched last night's game from the sideline.

McDermott was delighted with the way his side ground out a victory over promoted Hull KR to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

The champions trailed for most of the match, which was played in wet conditions in front of a 16,149 crowd, but finished strongly to ensure they will travel to Australia in good spirits.

The Rhinos' unlikely hero was centre Jimmy Keinhorst, who was drafted into the side at short notice after Joel Moon pulled out with a leg injury and took his chance by scoring a hat-trick of tries.

McDermott said: "I thought it was a convincing win. I thought we showed some class, as we did at Warrington last week, but this time for different reasons.

"We were obviously disjointed – the weather knocked us about and we lost a couple of players before kick-off – and we were up against a really enthusiastic Hull KR team.

"We had to show some different traits, which is equally important. We're not going to be great every week, we're going to have to show something other than just skill and I think that was epitomised tonight.

"I thought our goal-line defence was pretty special.

"We looked a bit tentative physically but when Stevie Ward came on in the first half it changed. For his first game back, he looked pretty fit.

"There were also some momentum-changing carries from Ryan Hall, who was again very impressive."

McDermott was also impressed by the display of Keinhorst, who did not make his Grand Final team but has now secured his place on the flight to Melbourne.

"Credit to Jim. He took his chance with both hands. He showed some good feet and some class.

"He is vying with Liam Sutcliffe for the right-centre spot and he's put some pressure on him."

Hull KR, having slumped to a 28-6 opening-round defeat by Wakefield, threatened to pull off a major shock after opening up a 10-0 lead courtesy of tries from winger Ryan Shaw and full-back Adam Quinlan.

The Rhinos drew level by the break but the Robins edged back in front early in the second half with a drop goal from former Swinton half-back Chris Atkin, who enjoyed an impressive Super League debut.
