BRADFORD Dudley Hill staged a remarkable second-half comeback to continue their unbeaten Kingstone Press National Conference Division Three start with a 26-24 success at East Leeds.

Hill edged in front with early tries from wingman Damian Smith and centre Martin Southwell – one of which was converted by scrum half Simon Sewell – for a narrow 12-10 lead.

That was before their Leeds hosts cut loose to go into the sheds with what looked to be a match-winning 24-10 total.

Easts were stunned by a refocused Hill outfit on the restart who responded with touchdowns from Ben Sheridan and Andy Walker, both converted by sub Andy Robinson to close the gap to 24-22.

Wingman Neil Wall crossed for another of his trademark efforts with just four minutes left to see Hill collect the points.

Brighouse Rangers breezed into the semi-finals of the Andrew Bennett Pennine Trophy with a 66-6 demolition of Castleford outfit Cutsyke Raiders. Rangers opened the scoring when second rower Richard McGlade stole the ball in the tackle as the visitors tried to work the ball away from their try line, and Liam Stead increased the lead when he cut through the middle of the Cutsyke defence to score.

The visitors rallied and touched down in the corner, but this spurred on the home side and veteran forward Gavin Midgley rolled back the years to score under the sticks.

Half back Andrew Esmond stamped his influence on the game with a clean break to set up Stead for his second as Rangers went into the half-time break 20-6 up.

On the restart, McGlade and Stead completed their hat-tricks, which together with further touchdowns from Andy Collins and Esmond, booked a visit to Illingworth in the semi-finals.

Queensbury lost 18-12 to Batley Boys on their first appearance at their new Halifax Rugby Union summer location in the Yorkshire Mens Forty20 Cup.

A deft kick from Bury stand off Jordan Brown saw Alex Destouche win the foot race to touch down in the corner to open the scoring before a missed tackle allowed the Batley winger to run the length of the field to level the scores.

Brown repeated his earlier effort to enable Sam Smith to reach the whitewash for an 8-4 lead at the turn.

The second half saw Batley work their way to an 18-8 advantage before Queensbury’s Arron Moore powered his way to the chalk for a final hurrah.
