A Ryan Smith hat-trick proved in vain as Wibsey Warriors were edged out 30-26 at Slaithwaite Saracens after a battling Pennine League performance.
The Warriors reached the interval with a 10-6 advantage in the Premier Division clash thanks to tries from Smith and debutant Jimmy Waddington.
Smith completed his treble in the second half and Waddington also crossed for his second, Harry Hall adding three goals, but it was not quite enough to take the points.
