Wyke’s first win of the Division One campaign has been a long time coming but it will taste all the sweeter having come at the expense of their old adversaries West Bowling A.

Both sides were neck and neck at 6-6 after a keen first half at Emsleys Rec before Bowling wilted under the visitors’ onslaught.

Aaron Priestley (2), Alan Binns, Trevor West and Steve Richardson posted the touchdowns and Craig Hillam (4) and Sean Godfrey shared the goals in the 30-12 final scoreline.

For Bowling, Matt Dyson and Ben Cousin crossed, with two conversions from Andy Patchett.

The hectic schedule of playing two games a week in order to get the season finished has resulted in a number of freak results as tired legs take hold.

Queensbury got back on song with a 32-6 win at Illingworth while Birkenshaw’s winning streak ended narrowly, 16-12 at Westgate Wolves.

Wibsey Warriors have no such problems. They secured the Division Two title as they romped to victory at Greetland All Rounders 68-0.

Dave Coates led the way with a hat-trick, with braces following from Phil Brain and Steve Redman.

Carl Walker, Luke Brookes, Chris Adams, Michael Horrocks, CJ Vogel and Mark Darragh completed the 13-try haul, with Andy Robinson kicking eight goals.

After last week’s Bradford Cup final disappointment, Queensbury seconds bounced back to record their second Division Five win in four days with a comprehensive 38-10 victory over lowly Meltham All Blacks.

Bury started well and were soon on top with tries from Joe Bryan and Aaron Moore. The All Blacks hit back with a brace of their own but the home side finished the half well on top with further touchdowns from Liam Murgatroyd and Michael Boocock.

The second half was all Bury, with both Moore and Bryan posting their doubles. Rory Brooke and a Kelvin Daulat long-range 60-metre run completed the rout.
