Yorkshire Cup semi-finalists Wibsey Warriors start their defence of the Jack Senior Memorial Bradford Cup with a preliminary round trip to Queensbury on Saturday.

The Warriors, who are firing on all cylinders at every level this season, know they will have a huge tussle on their hands against a Queensbury outfit who, until recently, dominated the competition.

’Bury look to be on the up following relegation from the Premier Division last term, while Wibsey’s exploits so far have earned them local bragging rights when it comes to do-or-die cup ties.

Last season’s beaten finalists West Bowling A travel the short distance to meet Odsal Sedbergh. There is a history of keen local rivalry between both clubs which should set the scene for a rousing tie.

Bowling have the vastly-experienced former BARLA captain Nigel Halmshaw back in the ranks at stand-off, while ex-Dudley Hill and Bradford Salem Sedge player-coach Steve Brown will use all of his considerable pedigree to try and ensure a home win.

Undercliffe Wildboars welcome Dudley Hill A to Rawdon Meadows in a tie that looks certain to go all the way to the wire. Both sides are languishing too close to the bottom of Division Three for comfort and the prospect of cup success will provide a welcome relief.

Meanwhile in Pennine League Division One bottom side Wyke must have a golden chance to kick-start a revival when they face an out-of-sorts Clayton at Towngate.

The black and whites have been struggling with a variety of injuries whilst Clayton has faltered after a bright start that saw them top the table early doors.

Birkenshaw look to continue their march up the table at Keighley Town.
