BRADFORD Dudley Hill opened their National Conference League account with an 18-14 win after a fiery Division Two encounter at Salford City Roosters.

Hill took an early lead when wingman Callum Lisle crossed in the corner on his debut – and another touchdown shortly before the interval from full back Aiden Batty earned a narrow 8-6 advantage at the turn.

The second half was a stop-go penalty-ridden affair, with the Parry Laners gaining the ascendancy when loose forward Adam Whitley and wingman Neil Wall crossed the whitewash, scrum half Simon Sewell tagging on one of the extras.

The hosts staged a late rally after the dismissal of Wall and second-row forward Willie Woodhead, together with a home player, following a series of fracas' – but Hill kept their cool and organised their defence efficiently well to collect the spoils.

Pennine League action saw Division Four table-toppers Queensbury take another step towards winning the championship with a 58-16 home win against Wortley Dragons.

The Leeds side made Queensbury work hard in the opening quarter, which saw the sides locked at 10-10 after home efforts from Aidan Hainsworth and Ethan Edgerton-Sharp.

Then substitute Tyler Ochobi crossed on his first touch, soon followed by two barnstorming tries from centre Jason Gelder, as the hosts cut loose in great style to go into the sheds 28-10 up.

Wortley started the second period as they did in the first when their full back crossed for his brace, before Queensbury's prominent stand-off Jordan Brown stepped his way to the chalk.

Wingman Cameron Parry added his name to the scoresheet and then Gelder, in complete contrast to his earlier exploits, walked over for his hat-trick try after Brown sent the Wortley defenders the wrong way with a classic dummy.

The visitors' luck went from bad to worse when they tried a short restart which saw wingman Chris Hanson collect to race 80 metres under the sticks. Hanson then added insult to injury when he caught the defence at sixes and sevens from the ruck to claim his brace.

Edgerton-Sharp slotted over his ninth conversion in the ten-try total to ensure another huge tally for the blue and whites in their quest for the title.
