VICTORIA Rangers' march up the Division One table continues following a 36-10 home Pennine League win against Dalton.

The Barrow-based visitors hit the front early doors before Vics centre Ryan Dixon crossed under the posts, leaving stand-off Hayden Sugden to tag on the extras.

Dalton then pounced on a loose pass to put star man Adam Nicholson on a 60-metre sprint to the whitewash – but this was their last contribution.

The visitors' lead was shortlived as Aiden Scully raced in out wide for Rangers to level matters at 10-10.

Coach John Hodgson kept his team on the field during the interval and the ploy bore fruit straight from the restart when forwards Luke Harps and Sam Thornton scored in rapid succession.

Scrum half Oscar Woodhead set up a cracker when his inside pass found Jake Swinscoe, Scully adding the conversion for a 24-10 advantage.

Powerhouse forward play put Kyle Hunt in under the uprights and Scully added the two, before bringing the game to a conclusion when he collected a Dixon chip to cross and convert himself for a 14-point tally.

Meanwhile, West Bowling A enjoyed a 34-16 success at Hollinwood in Division Three West.

Scrum half Ben Creswell provided the link between a dominant pack and a speedy backline, which resulted in touchdowns from forwards Ryan Patchett, Ben Cousen and Gavin Wilkinson.

Wingman Matthew Hines collected a brace and centre Ethan Egerton-Sharp added a solo try, plus five conversions.

Birkenshaw left high-flying Illingworth with a hearty 36-8 win in Division Four West after a sparkling four-try haul from centre Damian Smith.

Birky, going great guns under new coach Antony Wood, also had Chris Wood, Matt Honysett and Gary Procter making the chalk as they moved up to fourth.

Wyke A ran out of steam to go down 18-4 at leaders Meltham All Blacks, with the monsoon-like conditions ensuring a scrappy forward-orientated encounter.

A resolute contribution from black and whites' captain Aaron Priestley, ably supported by forwards Adam Smith and Alex Williams, set up the chance for Ryan Kershaw to send Wyke into the break 4-0 up.

But the Huddersfield hosts crossed twice in quick succession and then scored a breakaway to put the game out of sight.
