WEST Bowling start their quest to make up for last season’s Pennine President's Cup final defeat against Doncaster Toll Bar when Boothtown Terriers arrive at Emsley's Rec tomorrow for the opening round of the new campaign.

The Premier Division title-holders are red-hot favourites to overcome the Halifax outfit but there will be a measure of cautiousness due to the visitors' unbeaten start in Division One.

Bowling have been busy on the Yorkshire Cup trail, which came to an end last week in Hull against a very good Three Tuns side, but forwards Richard Lumb, Chris Anderson and Nat Light have been in great form.

There is also the boost of Ash Hutchinson and Chris Watson returning to the fold from Keighley Cougars.

Queensbury get their first outing in the Pennine League Championship Division at Allerton Bywater.

The Castleford side showed a great deal of enthusiasm in their defeat at Odsal Sedbergh last time out but the awesome Bury pack could have a field day against their very flaky defence.

Bury loose forward Joe Flanagan has started off in sparkling style, aided and abetted by wingman Scott Swann, whose prowess with the boot is matched by his try-scoring ability.

Table-toppers Odsal Sedbergh will make it four wins on the trot if they succeed at New Earswick All Blacks.

Sedge may give Queensbury a big vote of thanks for smoothing their path by inflicting a big win over the York side in last week’s encounter at Hill Top.

Second-row forward Daniel Brown will have a fitness test on his injured leg prior to boarding the bus.

Victoria Rangers will be seeking to build on their excellent President's Cup win over Mirfield Stags when they travel to Underbank Rangers, especially with Isaac Brown and Carl McGuigan dominating proceedings, while the top match in Division Two is third-placed Wyke's journey to CK Vikings.

The first name on the black and whites' teamsheet could be super sub Scott Watson, who came off the bench to snatch a victory at Greetland last Saturday.

The Wakefield side are second after being awarded the points following a no-show from Stanningley, who look likely to fold at any moment.

Clayton welcome West Bowling A in a Division Three West derby, while Queensbury A will fancy their chances on home soil against Emley Moor.
