THE Pennine League has undergone a radical transformation before it kicks off next weekend.

The move is a bid to both improve playing standards and give more meaningful matches.

Premier Division champions West Bowling head the top tier, which will have six teams.

The second-tier Championship Division and third-tier Championship One Division will also have six teams, and include Odsal, Sedbergh, Queensbury and Victoria Rangers.

After the completion of the ten scheduled matches, the bottom three in the Premier Division and Championship step down and the top three from the Championship and Championship One move up to complete the season.

However, further down the ladder, from Division One (fourth tier), there is a more traditional format where Wyke will have to visit Cumbrian side Dalton.

Division Three and Four have been split into regional sections to reduce travelling costs, with Clayton in Division Three West, while a reformed Birkenshaw are in Division Four West.
